DAY 3: Turn wondering into a super power. Develop your skill of noticing to Sherlock Holmes proportion. What do I mean? Simply, notice and wonder about EVERYTHING. It goes like this:
Last week I noticed a low-flying plane. I wondered why it was so close to the ground. Was the pilot looking for a place to make an emergency landing? Were they lost? Were they actually members of a covert government agency taking pictures of my neighborhood?
What on earth is that recliner chair doing next to a bus stop? I asked myself. Is it like Dr. Who's time-traveling phone booth?
I saw a teenage boy and his dad exiting the grocery store. The boy was holding a simple flower bouquet. Who was it for? Girlfriend, grandmother, music teacher? Were the flowers for a happy, sad, apologetic, or momentous occasion?
Out for an early-morning walk, I noticed 5 cats gathered together in the middle of the street, like they had been talking together. They dashed off as I approached. I wonder what they were talking about? Were they night watchmen, reporting what they had witnessed during the night? Were they planning a raid on a nearby koi pond? Is something going on that we humans don't know anything about??
Homework: Notice and wonder about at least 5 things between now and tomorrow.
