I started this fb page, for one, and got a domain name and website. I contacted the Young Writers Program and, through them, connected with a diverse group of first readers who, in turn, provided me with reviews and quotes to promote My Own Magic. I commissioned an artist who brought the story to life and created a really cute cover, which I will unveil in just a few days(!). I learned about the interior design of a book and all the decisions that go along with that. I started a fundraising page so that when I sell a book, the Young Writers Program will benefit too. I had author photos taken, which was handy, because when I was interviewed I had a photo to share. I made a general announcement to literally everyone I know, and I've improved my editor's eye considerably having carefully proofread my own and 12 other student novels.
*sigh* I admit, I'm exhausted. Because, like everyone else out there, I have a day job, too. But this is SO much fun! I just keep thinking how much easier the next one will be. :)
Oh, I can't help myself -- here's a detail from the cover!
